President's Column (continued from home page)Nothin To DoNow that we are in the full swing of winter Most of us suffer from PMS, you know, Parked Motorcycle Syndrome and we long for the summer months. However all is not lost because this is the time of year when Organizations like ours here at TRAINMRO are getting together for Brotherhood and getting ready for Chili Cook-offs which are a common winter event for us. The Cook-Offs are a great time because they are not expensive, I believe ours is 5 bucks for all the chili you can eat which is a great bargain in this day and time. Not only that but it gives us a chance to get together and enjoy the fellowship and there is a bit of competition involved in who makes the best chili. It also gives us a chance to raise a little money for our charities which is always a good thing. I think it is important to get together in the winter time. I don't think we do enough to keep folks interested and its allot more fun than a meeting. It gives everyone a chance to find out what is going on as far as legislation goes and to talk about the spring and summer rides that we plan on doing as a group. If you get a chance to attend a Cook-off by all means come on out. Everyone is Welcome at all the TRAINMRO events and we love seeing everyone. The Twisted Spoke Chapter will have their Cook-off at Charlies Throttle Stop February 7 at 2pm. I believe ours will be at Tommy Deuces Bar and Grille (formerly Deuces Wild) on March 13 at 5:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to come join in, and if you would like to enter your chili bring a crock-pot full with you. Take it from me, it's a great time!! Another way to break the winter time blues is attend a meeting of your local MRO. I know, you are think oh no, not a boring meeting but the truth is some of these meetings are a good time. I always enjoy going to the KMRO Meetings and seeing everyone and I learned real quick not to walk in front of the Directors there or you get hollered at. I have to do that at least once during the night. Just my nature I guess. It is still great having a chance to sit around before and after the meeting to talk to folks I don't get to see allot. Our meetings are held the 3rd Friday of every month at Buffalo Wings and Rings in Lebanon and are pretty informal. Of course we sit and eat before the meetings as they serve killer wings, and although we talk about up coming events and legislative matters that concern us it is always great to see everyone. We promise not to bore you to bad. Also we have started a New Year and we all here at TRAIN MRO wish all of you a safe, healthy, and prosperous year in 2010 and we look forward to seeing all of you real soon. Mike Ballard TRAINMRO Inc. Jan 14Our regular meeting will be this Friday Jan 15 at Buffalo Wings and Rings Lebanon 7pm. There is not a whole lot going on but come on out anyway and enjoy the fellowship!! The Twisted Spoke Chapter is having their Chili- Cook off Feb. 7 at Charlies Throttle Stop. Be sure and Check out the flyer on the website. This will be a great time!!! Our Chili Cook-off will be March 13 at Larry Deuces Grille (formerly Deuces Wild). This will be a home coming for us so to speak as allot of us hung out there before and always had a great time. It will be good to be back!! As some of you know John Glover had hip replacement Surgery I believe in November and is doing just great. Also Marti Criswell has had knee replacement surgery and I hope is doing well. Once again I have lost Marti's phone number (sorry Marti) and have not talked to her, but her daughter Carol says she is improving slowly. We wish John and Marti both God Speed in their recovery and hope to see them as soon as possible. To break up the winter time blues we will be having an impromptu get together Saturday night Jan. 30 At Larry's Deuces Grille. Come on out and see everyone and enjoy the live music and tip a few if you have a mind to. We will be there at 8 o'clock and should be a great evening of fellowship. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Winter lies to long in country towns; hangs on until it is stale and shabby, old and sullen. Willa Cather Thanks! See Some of you at the meeting!! God Bless and Be safe... Mike |
